One of the best-kept secrets of Charlottesville is the plethora of activities and special events which take place seemingly every weekend. From the local perspective, the caliber and frequency of entertainment opportunities is off the chart for an area of our size - but we won't tell if you won't. As a guest, there are many main attractions that consume time and attention, but we want to focus on some of the best - and least talked about - events that can add value to your visit. This week we're talking about the Charlottesville City Market.
Since 1973, the Charlottesville City Market has been a Saturday morning must in the spring and summer months. Now with over 100 vendors each Saturday, you can find everything at the Market, including farm-fresh fruit and vegetables, pottery, jewelry, art, and much more. Perhaps just as wonderful as purchasing locally made wares, is speaking one-on-one with the artisan or farmer themselves. We encourage you to rise and shine, and make the Market a part of your next visit. Inside tips: Go hungry! There are many vendors offering breakfast food (and coffee of course). Take a look at the map prior to visiting. The vendor list and their specific tent locations are updated weekly on the City of Charlottesville's Market website. You can also follow their facebook page. Enjoy!
